Cyber Essentials Accreditation

We are delighted to announce that, in September 2018, we were accredited with a Certificate of Assurance for the Cyber Essentials scheme by QG Business Solutions.

Cyber Essentials is a Government-backed and industry-supported scheme designed to help businesses protect themselves against cyber threats.

Cox Mahon was assessed and approved as meeting the Cyber Essentials implementation profile and that, at the time of testing, IT defences were deemed satisfactory against commodity-based cyber attacks.

Opportunities for criminals and hackers to commit fraud, industrial espionage or theft of intellectual property is more prevalent due to our reliance on internet-based technology. The Cyber Essentials scheme defines a set of five key security controls which can help to protect businesses from attacks.

The assessment also helps to identify areas for improvement in cyber security and best practice.

Cyber and data breach incidents

Sadly, having a Cyber Essentials accreditation still doesn’t guarantee that a business won’t be attacked. In addition, a cyber incident impacting a business is often likely to be accidentally caused by a supplier or even a member of staff.

Generally, these types of incidents are not covered through traditional insurance policies, so it’s wise to take a look at what a cyber insurance policy can offer.

A good cyber policy won’t just cover losses incurred from a failure or breach. It will even help you to discover and solve the problems, manage the situation and could get your business up and running again in a matter of hours.

Cyber Liability Insurance could even cover your fine after an inadvertent breach to the General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR).

Our Cox Mahon cyber specialists are on hand to help you with your cyber questions. Contact us today.
